30

Two countries have long-standing friendship and cooperation, were formed by two great leaders, President Ho Chi Minh and President Mao Zedong. The relations are always highly appreciated by leaders and people of two countries. Besides the foreign affairs of the Party and State diplomacy, the Government of Vietnam has always attached much importance to people-to-people diplomacy.

The Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations (HAUFO) and the Beijing People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (BPAFFC), standing units for people-to-people diplomacy of two capitals, has established relations since 15 years ago. Since then, two units have actively contributed to enhancing the friendly and cooperative relationship between Hanoi and Beijing. It also contributes much to the promotion and preservation of good traditions of the people of Vietnam and China. The people of Vietnam in general and the people of Hanoi in particular are deeply aware that the Vietnam-China relationship is an invaluable asset that needs to be honored, respected and handed down to next generations, based on the principle of the “16-word” motto (Friendly neighborliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-lasting stability and looking forward to the future)

Intangible cultural heritage is a spiritual product of historical, cultural and scientific value of peoples all over the world, which is preserved by memory, written, handed down by word of mouth, training, performance, etc. Beijing’s intangible cultural heritage is a valuable asset of the Chinese people and humanity preserved and handed down by the Chinese people so far has become an indispensable part of the Chinese culture; and also contributed to the multicolored picture of Oriental culture.

2017 is the 50th anniversary of the founding of ASEAN, also the year of China-ASEAN tourism cooperation. In order to strengthening the friendship between China and Vietnam in general, Beijing and Hanoi in particular, the 28-member delegation of BPAFFC brought to Hanoi the color of Chinese intangible cultural heritage. To enhance cultural exchanges, create a friendly bridge for the people of Hanoi to understand more about the unique culture of China, on this occasion, HAUFO cooperated with BPAFFC and Hanoi Metropolitan University to host the 4th Beijing-ASEAN Culture Tour in Hanoi.

The Beijing-ASEAN Culture Tour is part of the “Happy New Year” series of the Ministry of Culture of China, which is composed of three parts: displaying, performing intangible cultural instruments, manipulation and display of intangible cultural products. At the show, the audience has the opportunity to enjoy live performances, interact directly with Chinese heritages which performed by intangible cultural artists. The tour is a cultural exchange program implemented in ASEAN countries operated by the People’s Committee of Xicheng District (Beijing City, China) since 2014. Over the past three years, the program has performed successfully and has received a warm welcome from the people of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

Participating in the program on the campus of Hanoi Metropolitan University, the audience witnessed and learned about hand-crafted cultural products such as: painting in the glass vase, traditional aromatherapy, cutting paper in Beijing, painting on the bottle, etc. These activities have attracted the attention of the participants, especially students of Hanoi, who feel interested in learning about the intangible cultural products of Beijing. The performances of intangible cultural heritages are also really attractive including peking opera, muti-mask representation, oral stunts, martial arts, Kunqu opera make-up show and Chinese zither playing, traditional Chinese magic show; martial arts performances, etc.

The efforts of the Organizing Committee and the support of the media, the 4th Beijing-ASEAN Culture Tour in Hanoi was held successfully. This was a meaningful exchange activity to strengthen cultural exchange between Vietnam and China. We wish for the friendship between HAUFO and BPAFFC in particular, and two countries in general always closed, united and developed.
