A high-ranking delegation of the Lao Party, State and National Assembly, led by NA Chairwoman Pany Yathotou, began an official visit to Vietnam on July 3 at the invitation of the Vietnamese Party, State and NA.
During her six-day stay, the Lao NA Chairwoman will attend numerous activities to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and 40 years since the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty on Amity and Cooperation in Son La province.
The NA Chairwoman is accompanied by Dr. Vilayvong Bouddakham – President of the Lao NA’s Finance, Planning and Audit Committee and Chairman of the Laos–Vietnam Friendship Association; Dr. Eksavang Vongvichit – President of the External Relations Committee; Suansavanh Vigaket – the Lao NA’s Secretary General; Bounpone Sisoulath – President of the Economic, Technology and Environmental Committee; Somphou Douangsavanh, President of the Committee for Cultural and Social Affairs; Khampheuy Panemalaythong – Head of the Laos NA Institute of Legislative Studies; among Chairmen of the People’s Councils of Champasak and Xiangkhouang provinces.
Lao NA Chairwoman Pany Yathotou was born on February 18, 1951 in Xiangkhouang province, Laos. She is a member of the Standing Committee of the Lao NA and President of Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs during the fourth session (1998-2002); a member of the Standing Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the Lao NA for the fifth session (2002-2005); and a Politburo member and Lao NA Vice Chairwoman during 2006-2010 period. Since December 2010, she has held the title of Chairwoman of the Standing Committee and Chairwoman of the NA of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
