Vietnamese students studying at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) organised Vietnam Day on April 5 to welcome Vietnam’s hosting of APEC Year 2017.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the MGIMO’s ASEAN Centre Viktor Sumsky noted that the event attracted not only MGIMO students but also those from other universities in Moscow.

Lai Ngoc Doan, a representative of the Vietnamese embassy in Russia, congratulated MGIMO students for organising a meaningful event.

The diplomat also lauded MGIMO as one of the leading training establishments in the area of international relations in the world where a large number of Vietnamese students are studying.

The Vietnam Day featured a round-table seminar on Vietnam’s role as the host of APEC Year 2017, a traditional souvenir fair, a photo exhibition “APEC Year 2017 in Vietnam”, an understanding competition on Russia and Vietnam, and Vietnamese cuisine.
